As a substitute teacher in Monroe NH, I often have lunch duty. I can tell you that the students are very aware of what's happening to other students. If a student is denied lunch, other students are aware of it. This creates humiliating shame for the student being denied lunch. That shame is deep and lasting. No child should be subjected to this kind of shaming because of their parents' financial situation.
