The Council believes that this legislation may have a positive impact on the developmentally/intellectually disabled community. Many families in New Hampshire live in circumstances in which having the school provide at least one meal per school day would greatly aid their abilities to provide for their families in other ways such as paying rent for shelter, paying for heat, etc. This is especially true for families within the disability community as a disproportionate number of them live at or below the poverty line.
