I strongly support this bill, and thank you for your consideration of my comments and your support of this bill. As many have stated, and Governor Ayotte has concurred, there should be no landfill in Dalton, next to Forest Lake State Park. The proposed site is on a gravel pit, with soil that allows rapid transit of leachate leaks or spill to surrounding watersheds, including the Ammonoosuc River. This area is a pristine region of our beautiful state. Surrounding wells have been tested, and are free from PFAS. The primary industry in the North Country is tourism and outdoor recreation. A large landfill, accepting almost 50% out-of-state trash, is not compatible with that economy. This proposed landfill is not needed for disposal of NH waste, and only serves to allow a large corporation (who does not have a good safety record) to profit at the expense of northern NH's beautiful, pristine environment.
