Thank you for this opportunity to speak on behalf of myself, my family, and my as yet unborn grandchildren, as well as those, like me, deeply concerned about the environmental devastation - be it slow and steady or fast and furious - that a landfill in such close proximity to Forest Lake State Park poses what with the numerous studies on leachate migration despite modern technology's best efforts. While New Hampshire's proclivity towards Libertarianism is indeed something to cherish amidst an ever-increasing infringement on individual rights, that mindset does not adequately protect New Hampshire's natural resources either figuratively or literally from irreparable damage. In essence, then, the common good of many is sacrificed for the financial gain of few. As such, I strongly support HR-13 in opposing the permitting of a landfill next to Forest Lake State Park in Dalton, NH. Let it be known that when my family learned of the controversy, we drove to the park from Nashua to see the lake for ourselves and talk the Dalton residents. They are rightfully outraged. Who is listening to their concerns? How any company claiming to support environmental sustainability would even consider such a project speaks of the hypocrisy it appears some lawmakers are prepared to overlook. Please don't. Please do the right thing for Dalton residents today and tomorrow. Thank you, again, for your time and consideration.
