We should be pausing all new landfill permitting while we develop a serious plan to significantly reduce the waste stream, make recycling mandatory, and support communities by creating strong markets for recycled materials. We also must require those businesses that generate toxic chemicals to clean them up at the source. There are many models for solid waste reduction in other states and countries that we can implement. We cannot allow our profligate ways to continue forever. Thank you.
