As a single mother years ago the local town assistance is what provided me the opportunity to get a roof over my head and my child's head and allow me the ability to begin my career and independence. Without it, or with a 90 day waiting period I very well would have been homeless and dependent on "the system" so many legislatures aim to condemn. These programs are invaluable to the communities and should not be limited based on your length of residency. Does that mean that the town I moved from should remain responsible for helping me for up to 3 months despite me no longer living there? Of course a government "for the people" would find any opportunity to add even more hurtles to the lives of struggling individuals.
