This bill is nothing short of barbaric, designed to enable town welfare offices to evade their duty to assist community members in need. It is particularly appalling that this discussion is taking place on the same day as the annual HUD-led Point-in-Time count. Instead of engaging in this vital event today, many leaders in the field will be compelled to spend their morning advocating for the rights and continued support of individuals in OUR communities. We can and must do better.
