Subject: Opposition to House Bill 348 Dear Representatives, I strongly oppose HB 348, which would limit eligibility and increase the wait times for local assistance programs. This bill poses a significant burden on low-income households, many of which rely on timely assistance to meet basic needs like food, housing, and healthcare. By making it harder to access these essential services, we risk pushing vulnerable individuals and families into deeper poverty. Increasing the wait time for assistance means that families will be left without critical support when they need it most. In many cases, delays in assistance can lead to severe consequences, including homelessness, food insecurity, and poor health outcomes. Instead of making it harder for those in need to access vital resources, we should be working to streamline and expand assistance programs to ensure that all residents, particularly those experiencing financial hardship, can receive the help they need quickly and efficiently. I urge you to vote against HB 348 and prioritize policies that support, rather than penalize, our most vulnerable populations. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Jeffrey Kiernan Jeffkiernan12@gmail.com
