We are in an era of increasing climate change. One of the major features of climate change is increasing amounts of extreme weather. Hot is hotter; cold is colder. Requiring use of up to date energy efficient building codes is essential for two reasons: First, energy efficient houses are both cheaper and more comfortable to live in. Second, energy efficiency makes a significant contribution to reducing the level of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases caused by burning fossil fuel. Building an efficient building initially is far more cost effective than retrofitting.
