Lorraine Fuller | Oppose HB349

I speak from personal experience. I am 76 years old and have had cataract surgery in both eyes and currently am being treated for glaucoma for which I have had laser treatments and stents implanted twice. I currently use eye drops for my condition. To become an eye surgeon, also known as an ophthalmologist, a person needs to complete a bachelor’s degree, attend medical school to earn an MD, and then complete a minimum of a three-year residency program specifically focused on ophthalmology., which includes surgical training in eye surgery, essentially requiring a significant amount of medical education and specialized training in the field of eye care. They then have to pass the required ophthalmology board exams to become certified to practice. That is the ONLY person I would want doing any surgery on or around my eye and that of any family member! IT’S ABOUT YOUR VISION! ONLY THOROUGHLY TRAINED AND QUALIFIED OPHTHALMOLOGISTS SHOULD DO EYE SURGERY!
