I support this bill because declawing is an experience of pain that will last for the cat’s lifetime. I know: I adopted a declawed cat. Furthermore, if the cat is an outdoor cat, or an indoor/outdoor cat, or an indoor cat that escapes to the outdoors, the cat will have no way of defending itself against predators. Cats who keep their claws—what Mother Nature gave them—won’t destroy furniture if they are provided with places and objects in the home (such as towers or floor pads) where they can sharpen their claws (which is a natural behavior). I have had 9 cats in my life thus far, and not one of them has destroyed any of my lovely furniture. It is time this cruel and unnecessary procedure comes to an end. I support this bill fully and without reservation.
