As a veterinary technician, I have seen first-hand the trauma declawing leads to in cats. Thankfully, many veterinary practices no longer offered this "service" due to a higher level of ethics and better understanding of the damage this procedure causes. However, it is time to make this barbaric practice a thing of the past. Medicine is always evolving and as we continue to learn we can make changes to ensure we are providing the best care for our patients. Declawing cats is a disservice to our patients and the only thing "benefiting" from this procedure is furniture. Why are we protecting inanimate objects rather than the living beings in our care? If a person does not want to risk their furniture getting damage then I recommend they get a pet rock.
