Paula Aarons | Support HB106

I have a small sheep farm in southern NH. Climate change has affected grazing and hay making dramatically in the past 5 years. Vacillating between extreme wet and then extreme hot and dry has caused the supply of hay to decrease and the quality of the grazing to be unpredictable. This decrease immediately affects the cost of hay - the price I pay per bale has almost doubled. Further, because we get less snow, and less steady gentle rain the already fragile soils of New England need to be fertilized more and amended more often - this also adds significant cost. Finally disease and parasitic outbreaks in the flock because of field conditions has increased, thus creating more vet bills. I support this bill. thank you for your time.
