HOUSE RESOLUTION No. 6
Memorializing State Representative Andre Martel of Manchester
WHEREAS, we have learned with profound sorrow of the death of our friend and colleague Andre A. Martel, who was just elected to his fifth term as a State Representative representing the citizens of Hillsborough County District 44, Wards 8 and 9 of Manchester and the town of Litchfield; and
WHEREAS, Andy Martel served with diligence and enthusiasm on the Committee on Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs in each of his terms in the House and chaired the Health and Human Services committee in his two terms in the Senate; and
WHEREAS, Andy Martel was a force in the city of Manchester, active in his church, the Knights of Columbus, the Association of Canadian Americans, and in particular, his leadership of the Community Action Group to Save CMC which helped secure the future of the independent and thriving west side hospital; and
WHEREAS, Andy Martel was a caring and compassionate man who would often ask the Clerk how his absent colleagues were feeling or if they needed a card or a call; and
WHEREAS, Andy Martel had a very unique work history that many of his colleagues never knew about, but above all was a devoted family man to his wife of 49 years Simone, their five children and six grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives in Regular Session convened, Andre A. Martel be granted the highest praise and accolades and given our profound thanks for his service to his country, the state, and the city he called home; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that expressions of our most heartfelt sympathy be extended to his family and that a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared for presentation to them.
