to which was referred HB 486-FN
AN ACT relative to grandparents' visitation rights.
Having considered the same, the committee recommends that the Bill
BE REFERRED TO INTERIM STUDY
BY A VOTE OF: 3-0
Senator Daryl Abbas
For the Committee
HB486 expands the criteria for a court’s consideration of grandparent visitation to include periods of six months in which that grandparent was a primary caretaker and instances in which both parents are not residing in the same home, and exclude changes in the frequency of contact due to action by the parents. Due to these considerations potentially infringing on the newly expanded parental bill of rights, this bill was referred to interim study.
