For the Committee
This bill requires a second person, who is another sworn-in election official, to count write-in votes. Adding a second official ensures greater accountability, reduces the risk of mistakes, and builds public trust in the results. For these reasons, the Election Law and Municipal Affairs Committee recommends Ought to Pass on HB 474.
