THE COMMITTEE ON Commerce
to which was referred HB 1196-FN
AN ACT repealing the state housing champion designation and grant program.
Having considered the same, the committee recommends that the Bill
IS INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE
BY A VOTE OF: 5-0
Senator Keith Murphy
For the Committee
This bill would have repealed the Housing Champion Designation and Grant Program. Since its inception, more than half of the state’s total permitted units have come from 28 Housing Champion communities. Given the Program is still in its infancy, and housing remains a top priority for many residents and businesses, the Committee felt this bill was not necessary at this time.
