STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand
AN ACT requiring the completion of a rate proceeding prior to legislative approval of a settlement agreement with PSNH.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Findings. The general court finds that:
I. Electric ratepayers deserve relief from ongoing high electric rates.
II. The issues of electric rates and electric restructuring have been discussed at great length. The general court has a responsibility to represent the best interests of the people who are rate payers.
III. Completion by the public utilities commission of the rate proceeding involving Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) would provide a benchmark which the legislature could use in evaluating the settlement agreement between the state and PSNH.
2 Docket No. 97-059. The New Hampshire legislature directs the public utilities commission to complete the rate making process, that began in Docket No. 97-059 in 1997, and thereby provide a benchmark comparison before any such settlement or agreement with Public Service Company of New Hampshire could possibly be authorized by the New Hampshire legislature.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
