ANALYSIS
This bill allows a student assigned to attend an out-of-state school approved as a school tuition program or pursuant to an interstate compact to attend a public school in New Hampshire in the student's resident SAU.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Two
AN ACT relative to an option for students attending an out-of-state school to attend in New Hampshire.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Paragraph; Change of School or Assignment; Interstate Compact. Amend RSA 193:3 by inserting after paragraph VIII the following new paragraph:
IX. The parent or guardian of a student assigned to attend an out-of-state school approved as a school tuition program or pursuant to an interstate compact may apply to the superintendent of the student's district of residence if the parent or guardian believes it would be in the best interest of the student to change the student's school or assignment. If the grade level of schooling exists at a public school in New Hampshire, within the student's resident SAU, the parent or guardian of the student shall have the option to have the student attend that New Hampshire public school at no additional expense, except that the resident school district shall not be liable for the student's transportation.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
